Quarry is a site-specific performance commissioned by and for MANITOGA–the modernist Home, Studio and 75-acre woodland garden of the mid-20th-century industrial designer Russel Wright (1904-1976) in Garrison, NY. Quarry features a cast of eight performers and site-specific sound installation and original score. Quarry takes inspiration from Wright’s masterful integration of architecture and landscape, his deep commitment to experimentation with form and materials, and his practice of creating community through outdoor performance. Illuminating this architectural landscape treasure in a new and distinctive light, Quarry utilizes performance and place to spur people to contemplate their role in the larger world.

“Baldwin’s company traverses a bridge between built and “natural” spaces, the present moment and the past, to create a multi-dimensional map of an attempt to live a good a life, but also to leave behind something worth remembering.”
